Recording a Session

Nesso captures your session audio to generate a transcript and SOAP note. Here’s how to set up and manage a recording.

Before you start

Nesso offers two ways to create a note: Record session (live recording during the session) and Dictate recap (dictating a summary after). This article covers Record session. For dictation, see Dictate a recap.

From the Dashboard, click Record session and click a client.

Choose your microphone

Use the dropdown to select your audio input device. The live sound indicator next to it confirms audio is being captured.

Select your session type

In Person: No additional setup needed.

Telehealth: You’ll also choose your platform:

  • Chrome (browser-based): Click Share Audio and Start Recording. In the browser dialog, select the tab where your Telehealth session is running (e.g., your Doxy, Google Meet or EHR tab), turn on Also share tab audio, and click Share. Nesso captures audio from both you and your client.
  • Desktop App (e.g., Zoom): Keep your speakers on so Nesso’s microphone picks up the conversation. Headphones aren’t supported in this mode. Switch to Chrome if you need them.

Tip: For the best experience, Chrome is recommended for Telehealth sessions.

Start recording

For In Person and Desktop App sessions, click Start Recording. (Chrome users start recording via the Share step above.) You’ll see a timer, animated audio levels, and controls to Pause, Resume, or End the session.

You can switch your microphone mid-session without interrupting the recording.

End the session

Click End, then:

  1. Choose up to 3 treatment approaches (e.g., CBT, Psychodynamic) to help Nesso generate a more accurate note.
  2. Click Generate Note.

You’ll return to your Dashboard where you can track note generation progress.

Sessions under 5 minutes

Sessions must be at least 5 minutes to generate a note. End early and you’ll have the option to Continue Recording or Delete Session.

Deleting a session

You can delete a session from the End Session screen or Session Details. This is permanent. No note will be generated.
